WEBSTER - Kayla M. Christian, 16, of Webster died Thursday, February 7 from complications as the result of an asthma attack that occurred on Saturday.
She leaves her mother, Tina M. Carrion, step-father Daniel Carrion and step-brother Daniel Carrion, Jr. of Webster; step-father Luis Mercado and sister Shayla Mercado and brother Axl Mercado of Southbridge; father, David Christian and brothers Sebastian and Dylan Christian of Merritt Island, Florida; maternal grandparents Michael J. and Ginger Costen of Webster and Sharyn Y. Costen of Southbridge; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and her very special love, Robert H. Davies of Spencer.
Kayla was born in Southbridge and attended Southbridge Elementary and Wells Middle Schools . After moving to Webster she attended Bartlett High School and Baypath Regional Vocational Technical High School where she was a junior in the Cosmetology program. Additionally, she was a Baypath Varsity Cheerleader, member of the Student Council and a Mentor at the Youth and Family Center in Webster. Upon graduation she planned to attend the University of Massachusetts to become a kindergarten teacher.
She enjoyed reading, listening to music, dancing, cheerleading and going to football games, shopping and spending time with her family and friends. She also loved working with children, writing Rap music with her sister, helping people, going to the beach and eating her grandmother’s potato salad. Her incredible sense of humor, sparkling and energetic personality, and compassionate heart will be deeply missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday February, 11, 2008 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Robert J. Miller Funeral Service, 366 School St. , Webster , MA . Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Burial will follow in the Mount Zion Cemetery on Worcester Rd., Webster. A celebration of Kayla’s life will immediately follow at the Central Massachusetts Communities of Care Youth and Family Center in Webster at 251 Main St. Parking is available behind the building.
